VENUS FLY TRAPS

What is a Venus fly trap?
Venus fly traps are small carnivorous plants which are only found in North and South Carolina in the U.S.A. The plant forms a rosette of approx. 6 - 8 leaves.
What they do
The leaf is the trap and each trap consists of two lobes. On the inner surface are three or more trigger hairs depending on the size of the trap. In order for the trap to close a trigger hairs must be stimulated twice, or two separate hairs once - within 2-20 seconds. If an insect is caught the trap will close further and digestion begins.
